Catamount Cultural Connections has two different programs to connect international students to other people on campus: a student-to-student program and a student-and-faculty/staff program. More below!
Buddy Program (Connect with Other Students!)
The Buddy Program pairs new international students with continuing students at UVM (both American students and other international students). In your first year at UVM, this is a nice way to start meeting other students and an easy way to get involved. The Office of International Education (OIE) will invite you and your buddy to join events with us, but if course we also encourage students to get together independently - share a meal, go to the gym, study together, visit an on-campus event, or just hang out! The purpose is just to make connections. Introduce your buddy to your friends and hopefully you will meet theirs.
NEW International Students: You will be emailed about how to join the program before arriving on campus, but if you want to join later, click here.
Continuing UVM Students: If you have beem at UVM for two or more semesters and would like to be matched with new international students arriving on campus, click here.
Once you have signed up, you will generally hear from us in about two weeks with more information. Thanks for joining us!
Community Host Program (International Students & UVM Faculty/Staff)
The Community Host Program matches international students with a faculty or staff member who serves as a community friend. Students and their community hosts might have lunch together on campus or get together outside of the UVM campus to get to know one another better perhaps through a joint activity.
This program is more informal and matches are made on a rolling basis. For more information, prospective Community Hosts should email InternationalStudents@uvm.edu and students should visit the OIE during walk-in hours. We will try to make a match within a month of your interest!
