Dr. Palmer received his Ph.D. in Bioengineering at the Pennsylvania State University – Hershey and shortly thereafter provided engineering support for PET imaging and cardiac physiology laboratories. He came to the University of Vermont as a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Molecular Physiology & Biophysics and is now an Associate Professor in the Department. Currently, Dr. Palmer’s lab develops innovative methods to model the pressure-volume relationship with cardiac slices and uses viscoelastic characteristics of striated muscle to detect the myosin crossbridge detachment rate and its sensitivity to strain.
