Shapleigh Smith, Jr.

Elected to the Board by the Vermont State Legislature in 2017 and re-elected in 2023. Term expires in March 2029. Born in Danbury, Connecticut. Educated at UVM, BA, 1987; and Indiana University Maurer School of Law, JD, 1991. Shap is an attorney at Dinse P.C. Former Member of the Vermont House of Representatives, 2003-2016; and Speaker of the House, 2009-2016. Current Member of Spectrum Youth & Family Services Board of Directors. Married to Melissa C. Volansky (UVM 1989; MD 1996); they have two children, Eli and Mia.
