Training and Education

The Vermont Lung Center offers laboratory-based and clinical training opportunities to learners spanning from undergraduates to postdoctoral scholars.

Undergraduate research opportunities: UVM undergraduates seeking a volunteer research opportunity should contact individual VLC faculty members for opportunities to work with their group.

Research areas cover pulmonary mechanics, epithelial biology, inflammation, immune responses, lung repair, and more, alongside clinical focuses on asthma, fibrosis, cystic fibrosis, and other lung diseases. Disciplines span pulmonary medicine, bioengineering, microbiology, immunology, and public health.

Postdoctoral training: doctoral-level scholars seeking a postdoctoral research position should inquire with individual VLC faculty members. Trainees gain specialized skills while engaging in broad lung research, fostering collaborative team science with both MD and PhD investigators to promote patient-oriented, translational research.
