On Friday, January 16, 2026, the University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine Teaching Academy celebrated its tenth annual induction ceremony, recognizing faculty members for excellence and leadership in medical education.
Founded a decade ago, the Teaching Academy aims to foster a culture of scholarship, innovation, and instructional excellence among Larner College faculty and instructors. Academy members engage in ongoing professional development, including intensive workshops and conferences, to continuously strengthen their teaching effectiveness and educational impact.
Three members of the Larner College of Medicine Graduate Public Health faculty were honored at this year’s ceremony. Christopher Zuidema, PhD, CIH, was inducted as a new member of the academy. Elzerie de Jager, MBBS, PhD, was promoted from Member to Expert Teacher, and Thomas Delaney, PhD, was elevated from Expert Teacher to Distinguished Educator—the academy’s highest designation.
