BIO

Renee Stapleton, MD PhD, is a Professor of Medicine and Chief of the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Vermont. She has spent her career building a federally-funded critical care clinical research program focused on improving outcomes in critically ill patients through novel supportive care and preventative interventions, as well as through communication with patients and families. She wears multiple academic research hats at UVM including Division Chief of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Chair of the Medical Sciences IRB, Co-Director of the Office of Research and Engagement, and Program Coordinator for the Northern New England Clinical and Translational Research Network (NNE-CTR). She cares for patients in Pulmonary Clinic and attends on the Medical ICU and Pulmonary Consult Services. She also thoroughly enjoys mentoring trainees and junior faculty and contributing to career development.
