At the University of Vermont’s Larner College of Medicine, officials say the Trump administration’s recommendation that pregnant women refrain from using the medication due to “a possible link to autism” is causing confusion for parents, WCAX-TV reports. Larner scientists advise people to listen to their health care providers and other health experts.

“My suggestion is that you continue to follow the science and the recommendations of national professional organizations, such as the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, which have been studying this for decades,” said Larner Professor of Medicine Jan Carney, M.D., M.P.H., associate dean of public health and health policy.

If you can’t find information based on scientific evidence, Carney says, you should question that information.
