UVM Cancer Center Recognizes Clinical Trials Awareness Day
Every year, hundreds of adults and children from Vermont and northern New York participate in clinical trials at the University of Vermont Cancer Center. There, they receive groundbreaking treatments that advance cancer care and delivery for patients in the region and nationwide.
“Clinical trials offer hope today and become the proven treatments of tomorrow for patients facing a cancer diagnosis,” said Christa Varnadoe, DNP, AGNP-C, OCN, CCRP, administrative director of the Cancer Clinical Trials Office and an associate professor at the University of Vermont Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine.
In recognition of Clinical Trials Awareness Day, the UVM Cancer Center is sharing research highlights and stories on the Cancer Center’s clinical trial page. These include:
- a database of more than 185 cancer clinical trials open to accrual at the Cancer Center
- an interview with neuro-oncologist and clinical trial investigator Alissa Thomas, M.D.
- a “Patient Q&A” with Rusty Ashmore, who was enrolled in a clinical trial for treatment of glioblastoma
More clinical trials–related stories and research highlights can be found on the Cancer Center’s Instagram and LinkedIn pages.
