NBC5 featured a story about the non-profit Age Well Vermont and the UVM Medical Center and Cancer Center teaming up to provide free skin care checks on day five of the Champlain Valley Fair. Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the U.S., according to the American Academy of Dermatology Association.

“Any time that there is a spot that is changing, bleeding, is sore, we are very happy to take a look at it because we can do a lot of things to intervene when we catch things early,” said Eleni Pilitsi, M.D., a third-year dermatology resident at the UVM Medical Center. “This is the important message. So, we want patients to reach out to us [or] their primary care doctor when the have a concern.”
