From the ambulance to the marathon course, EMS crews from Chittenden County are teaming up to support families of children who are currently receiving long-term hospital care.
According to NBC5, the relay competition will benefit the nonprofit Never Give Up Ever, which helps local families pay for things like food, rent, and gas while their child is in the hospital. Never Give Up Ever was founded by University of Vermont Medical Center ER tech and paramedic Jacquelyn Bombardier, who decided to turn her love of running into a fundraising effort after seeing the financial stress that many families face during long hospital stays.
“We put a bunch of teams in and we try to raise as much money as we can to raise awareness and support families, so they can be with their children,” Bombardier says.
The Vermont City Marathon and Relay are set for May 24 in Burlington.
