The University of Vermont Children’s Hospital celebrated a milestone $25 million gift from philanthropist B. Thomas Golisano, who founded Paychex in the 1970s, marking the largest donation in UVM Health’s history, WPTZ-TV NBC5 reported. The gift was announced at a ceremony in Rochester, New York, and will be distributed as $5 million annually over five years. With this latest donation, Golisano's lifetime philanthropic giving exceeds $1 billion.

UVM Health will use the funding to expand critical services for children with complex medical needs and provide additional specialty care. The hospital will be part of Golisano Children’s Alliance, which aims to elevate pediatric care by expanding services, strengthening collaboration and sharing best practices, and ensuring that children and families have access to the highest quality medical attention close to home.

In recognition of this momentous gift, the UVM Children’s Hospital will be renamed Golisano Children’s Hospital at University of Vermont Health.
