Larner Culinary Medicine Pilot Program Highlighted in BMC Medical Education

BMC Medical Education highlighted a pilot program on culinary medicine at the Larner College of Medicine in an article published April 11, 2025. The article, “Cooking with the curriculum: a pilot culinary medicine program at the Larner College of Medicine,” by Larner medical students Sarah Krumholz, M.D.’26, Molly Hurd, M.D.’26, and Alyssa Tenney, M.D.’26, along with endocrinologist Lauren Iacono, D.O., assistant professor of pediatrics, Christina Vollbrecht, M.A., M.S., RDN, and Whitney Calkins, M.D., assistant professor of family medicine, concluded that the study results demonstrate the benefits of a low-cost educational model of culinary medicine and that its potential to increase future physicians’ nutrition knowledge and improve their confidence in providing meaningful, evidence-based dietary guidance is considerable.
