Edwards, Horbar Analyze Periviable Births in JAMA Network Research Letter

A research letter co-authored by Larner faculty Erika Edwards, Ph.D., research associate professor of pediatrics, and Jeffrey Horbar, M.D., professor of pediatrics, and colleagues, examined trends in initiating active treatment and survival among infants born between 2014 and 2023 at between 22 and 25 weeks’ gestation to determine changes in the rate of active treatment and in-hospital survival over time, and differences based on gestational age, race, and ethnicity. The letter, titled “Active Treatment and Survival Trends for Periviable Births by Race and Ethnicity,” was published in JAMA Network online on April 26, 2025.
