WPTZ-TV: New ingredient approved to be used in sunscreen: what it means (JUL 30, 2026)
Larner Assistant Professor of Medicine Nathan Bombardier, M.D., a dermatologist at the University of Vermont Medical Center, was quoted in an NBC5 story about a new sunscreen ingredient called bemotrizinol, or BEMT, approved by the FDA in June, that will hit the market this fall. “The more patients using sunscreen, the less busy I have to be treating skin cancers, and I’m happy with that,” Dr. Bombardier said. “I’d love to see more products like this get approved.”
