Courses and mCGS Biomedical Entrepreneurship

Overview

Body

Our Biomedical Entrepreneurship Courses are designed for flexibility. Students may take a course as a standalone elective to gain targeted skills in biomedical entrepreneurship or complete both courses to earn the 6-credit Micro Certificate of Graduate Study. The fully online curriculum provides practical training in commercialization, customer discovery, intellectual property, regulatory strategy, business models, and venture development. 

The Micro Certificate of Graduate Study (mCGS) in Biomedical Entrepreneurship equips researchers, clinicians, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and professionals with the skills needed to translate biomedical innovations into products and services that improve human health.

MED 5010: Biomedical Entrepreneurship: Case Studies (3 credits) Fall 2026

Explore biomedical entrepreneurship through real-world case studies of successful and unsuccessful ventures. This course may be taken independently or serve as the first course in the mCGS pathway. 

MED 5011: Biomedical Entrepreneurship: From Concept to Venture (3 credits) Spring 2027

Apply entrepreneurial frameworks and industry methodologies to evaluate biomedical technologies, conduct customer discovery, develop business models, and create venture pitches. This course may be taken independently or as part of the certificate program.
