Welcome to Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) at the University of Vermont Medical Center. Our mission is to provide the highest quality of care to children throughout Vermont and northern New York through a multi-faceted approach of direct clinical care, education, research, and advocacy.
Vermont’s PEM community collaborates closely with pediatricians, hospitalists, and specialists at Vermont Children’s Hospital to provide comprehensive care, from ambulatory pediatrics to critically ill children.
Our PEM Section prioritizes education, rotating residents from emergency medicine, pediatrics, and family medicine, and integrating with medical student EM rotations. We conduct lectures for pediatric and EM residents and engage in quality improvement initiatives. Our research efforts cover topics such as childhood injuries and emergency medical services for children. Additionally, we advocate for our patients, extending our expertise to benefit the local community and beyond.
