Fellowship opportunities for Emergency Medicine applicants include Wilderness Medicine, Medical Education/Simulation, Emergency Ultrasound, and Global Health Equity Fellowships, each are designed to develop future leaders in their respective fields through clinical practice, education, and research.

Wilderness Medicine Fellowship

Body

The UVMHN WM Fellowship strives to launch our Fellows' career in WM through expedition medicine, WM education and leadership, and rural EM. Our graduates will become the next generation of leaders in wilderness medicine.

Timeline: ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED IN FULL BY SEPTEMBER 15, 2024. Interviews will be conducted late September and October and offers will be presented on the national offer date, as per the Wilderness Medical Society Match Process.

Medical Education / Simulation Fellowship

The Medical Education / Simulation Fellowship aims to prepare emergency medicine faculty for productive and satisfying careers as clinician educators with advanced skills in medical education, residency administration, and education scholarship.

Timeline: Although we have a rolling application process, we highly encourage all prospective fellowship candidates to apply by SEPTEMBER 3, 2025.
Interviews will be conducted late September and October by our Fellowship Selection Committee.

Global Health Equity Fellowship

Body

The Global Health Equity Fellowship will be recruiting our next cohort of fellows for the 2026-2028 cycle beginning in June 2025. Questions about the program should be directed to the fellowship directors, Dr. Katie Wells (katie.wells@uvmhealth.org) and Dr. Leila Amini (leila.amini@uvmhealth.org).

Interviews for Fellowships

Candidates selected for interviews will be notified to arrange virtual interviews via Zoom. Fellowships are for EM residency graduates from ACGME-approved programs who are board-eligible or certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and eligible for licensure in Vermont and New York.

The full-time position includes 35% non-clinical and 65% clinical work, split between UVMMC and other Network hospitals. Fellows serve as Clinical Instructors for Larner and participate in medical student education and resident training.
