Ultra Hands-On Ultrasound Training
Our Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship program let's fellows get up close and hands on so that they can learn the techniques and gain comfort and confidence in obtaining and interpreting images.
Expertise in EUS Imaging
Fellows receive hands-on instruction and mentorship in image acquisition and interpretation, including weekly scan sessions, didactics, and online resources. They become credentialed in all advanced applications, including resuscitative TEE, and prepare for the ABEM Focused Practice Designation exam in Advanced Emergency Medicine Ultrasonography.
Education and Teaching
Residency: Weekly EM resident scan shifts, QA review, and simulation training. Lecture opportunities at weekly resident didactics and monthly POCUS Rounds. Fellows will develop and EUS lecture portfolio and learn the foundations of curriculum development.
Medical Students: Participate in teaching for, and enhancing, the 4-year integrated Larner College of Medicine curriculum and Emergency Ultrasound Clerkship curriculum.
Network: Mentorship and education for community providers in regional emergency departments, critical access sites, and primary clinics in Vermont and upstate New York.
Research
Ultrasound fellows will have access to our outstanding research team for guidance and support to develop and complete an original project. Opportunities abound for involvement in the many ongoing research projects in the department, including the Resuscitative TEE Collaborative.

Our Emergency Department has Sections of Global Health, EMS, Wilderness & Austere Medicine, Rural EM, Pediatrics, Health Equity, Healthcare Innovation, Palliative and Geriatric Medicine, Sports Medicine, Toxicology, and Critical Care with dedicated faculty excited to collaborate on projects and involve the EUS Fellow.
