BIO
Dr. Prikis is a nephrologist with subspecialty expertise in Transplantation Medicine and Immunology. He serves as a Full Professor of Medicine for UVM Larner College of Medicine and is an active teacher and mentor for medical students, medical and surgical residents as well as other physicians, providers and medical staff. He specializes in the management of patients with kidney and pancreas transplants, chronic kidney disease, dialysis, hypertension and the broader range of kidney related diseases. His research interests include innovative methods for measurement of renal function in living kidney donors, utilization of blood and urine markers in diagnosis of rejection and kidney graft injury and Xenotransplantation. In his early school years, he was fascinated with the complexity of how the human body works. Learning to help people inspired him to pursue medicine and to push even further and to research new treatments, new medications and new hope. He creates personal relationships with his patients and is easily accessible to them. He wants his patients to feel secure so he can more easily help them manage their problems. He finds nothing more rewarding and gratifying than seeing his patients get better and return to their family and community.
