BIO

Jon Boyson is the Roger H. Allbee Professor of Surgery and Chief of the Division of Surgical Research. His research centers on understanding the biology of innate-like T cells. These unusual white blood cells reside in our mucosal tissues where they form part of our front line of defense against pathogens and are important contributors to the immune system's recognition of cancerous cells. Jon's research focuses on understanding the factors that regulate the development and function of these cells, how these factors shape the host immune response and ultimately, how they contribute to both health and disease. Jon mentors undergraduates and graduate students in his lab, and teaches immunology to graduate students and medical students.
