BIO
Dr. McGowan is a Pediatric Psychiatrist with the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychology Consult (CAPPCON) service at UVM Medical Center, where she provides acute psychiatric care to the emergency department and inpatient pediatric medical teams. Dr. McGowan also serves as the Medical Director for the Child, Adolescent and Family Unit at the Vermont Department of Mental Health. Her work, both clinical and administrative, focuses on improving access to mental health services, addressing health disparities, and fostering developmentally-informed, trauma-responsive and family-based approaches to care in all settings. Dr. McGowan plays a leadership role at the state level with regard to prevention, awareness and treatment of disordered eating. She is also an Early Stage Investigator with the IMPACT VT, the Vermont site of the IDeA States Pediatric Clinical Trials Network where she works in the development of clinical trials impacting rural pediatric populations.
