BIO

Dr. Estelle Bishop is an Assistant Professor of Neurological Sciences at the University of Vermont whose academic work centers on advancing medical, graduate, and undergraduate education in gross anatomy and neuroanatomy. She serves as Course Director for Undergraduate Human Neuroanatomy and Co‑Director for Human Gross Anatomy for DPT and MMS students, while also teaching across MD, DPT, MS, and undergraduate programs and mentoring learners at multiple levels. Her educational scholarship focuses on accessibility and inclusive pedagogy, particularly for visually impaired learners, supported by a curriculum grant to develop immersive, empathy‑building instructional approaches. Prior to her current education‑focused mission, Dr. Bishop trained extensively in gastroenterology, immunology, and neuroscience, conducting NIH‑funded research on neuroimmune mechanisms regulating gastrointestinal motility in conditions such as multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, aging, and inflammatory bowel disease. She additionally contributes significant service to the academic community as Chair of the Anatomical Gift Program and as a voting member of the Larner College of Medicine Advancement Committee, while remaining active in outreach, mentorship, and women‑in‑science initiatives
