BIO

Dr. Dhruv Shah is an Assistant Professor, Clinical Scholar, and the Associate Director of Medical Student Education in the Department of Psychiatry at the Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont. Dr. Shah completed his undergraduate training at SUNY New Paltz with a major in Biology and a minor in Philosophy. He went on to Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine and into his general psychiatry training at Cooper University Health Care. He completed a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Vermont in 2022 where he joined the faculty. He is a family psychiatrist and a diplomat in General, Child, and Adolescent Psychiatry board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He enjoys presenting nationally and internationally, including at the American Psychiatry Association Annual Meeting and the American Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Annual Meeting. He regularly teaches a broad spectrum of trainees and learners, including undergraduate students, medical students, medical residents as well as child and adolescent psychiatry fellows. He directs a undergraduate course on Sleep and the Brain within the behavioral change minor at the University of Vermont. He holds a delirium lecture for all third year medical students at the Larner College of Medicine during their psychiatry clerkship. He also regularly works with and teaches psychiatry residents and fellows in clinical supervision as well as directs a fellow didactic curriculum in Positive Psychiatry. He has worked in a variety of roles in healthcare systems including in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York and Vermont. Outside of clinical and academic work, he is a certified ski instructor and loves to ski as much as possible.
