BIO
Dr. Leila Amiri is the Associate Dean for Admissions and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Vermont’s Larner College of Medicine. A nationally recognized leader in holistic, mission-driven medical school admissions, she has held senior leadership roles at five U.S. medical schools, transforming recruitment and selection processes to advance equity and diversify the physician workforce.
Her scholarship and national service span the American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC), where she has chaired the Group on Student Affairs Professional Development Initiative and the BA/MD Affiliate Group, and currently serves as the Northeast Representative to the AAMC Committee on Admissions. Dr. Amiri’s research and teaching bridge science education, equity, and professional identity formation across the educational continuum. Through her consulting and speaking, she empowers institutions to design inclusive pathways to medicine that align with their missions and values.
Dr. Amiri holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from National (Northcentral) University, and M.A. and B.S. degrees in Cognitive & Neural Science and Biology from the University of South Florida.
