BIO
Debbie joined Prism at UVM as the center’s Interim Associate Director at the end of August, 2025.
Debbie was born near Savannah, Georgia, went to college and lived for several years afterward in California, lived and worked overseas in both the United Kingdom and Bangladesh, and made Vermont her home 23 years ago. Debbie has a background in the film and television industry and is also an ordained minister who has served a number of congregations. Debbie served as the Executive Director of a faith-based social justice organization called Vermont Interfaith Action for 17 years, and she was a State Senator representing Chittenden County for 4 years. Debbie seeks to draw on her varied experiences in many fields and cultures to provide a broad perspective in creating safety, welcome, and belonging for the Queer community on campus. She also strives to utilize her many years of staff development and supervision experience to provide stability and support to staff at Prism during this leadership transition.
Debbie holds a BA degree in Communication from Stanford University, a Master of Divinity degree from Fuller Theological Seminary, and completed a fellowship at Cambridge University, England. She likes to play golf and pickleball, follow major league baseball and college football, try new restaurants, frequent Vermont’s offerings in concerts and theater, and hang out with her partner, cat, and dog at home, especially on a rainy day.
