Recognizing the extraordinary contributions made by UVM staff can be a tricky endeavor, especially when staff contribute in quiet ways without much fanfare. In Burlington, at satellite offices across Vermont, and even remotely, UVM staff continually embody Our Common Ground values by going above and beyond in their words and actions to contribute to the University in unique and deeply impactful ways.

The President’s Our Common Ground Staff Award honors these staff members, the unsung heroes, who exemplify UVM’s values: respect; integrity; innovation; openness; justice; and responsibility. These values not only endure in the day-to-day jobs staff perform but transcend that work by inspiring our diverse campus community to work together in innovative ways, exchange knowledge, and foster and grow an environment of inclusivity and workplace excellence unique to the University’s mission and goals.

All faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to send nominations for this prestigious staff award by August 4, 2023. We ask that you pay particular attention to staff you have worked with who demonstrate Our Common Ground values in their day-to-day lives vs. a specific act or achievement. These values are lived values and are vital in supporting the vibrancy of our campus community.

To be eligible, nominees should clearly reflect a commitment to Our Common Ground values, be current staff members in good standing, and must have worked at UVM for a minimum of three years to be eligible. More details on how to submit a nomination, staff eligibility, and other important details are available on the President’s Our Common Ground Staff Award webpage.

Recipients of the award will be announced in late August and honored at a special awards breakfast on September 14.
