The University of Vermont is pleased to announce new features in PeopleSoft to help make emergency communications clearer and more accessible.

Emergency Text Messages in Multiple Languages 

As of April 20, 2026, employees will be able to select a language for emergency text messages. The available languages are: 

  • Arabic 

  • Bosnian Latin 

  • Chinese Simplified 

  • Chinese Traditional 

  • English 

  • French 

  • Haitian Creole 

  • Somali 

  • Spanish 

  • Vietnamese 

  • Nepali 

All settings are defaulted to be in English. To change your language preference, go to: 

PeopleSoft Human Resources > Personal Details > Language for Emergency Texts 

Confirm your Emergency Text Phone Number 

This is also a good time for employees to make sure the phone number you use for emergency texts is still correct. You can review or update your number in PeopleSoft Human Resources > Personal Details > Contact Details 

Keeping your number up to date helps ensure you receive important messages when they matter most.  

More Options for Emergency Contacts 

Under the Emergency Contacts section, you can choose which type(s) of emergency each contact should be notified about.
