Fulbright UK Summer Institutes

Fulbright UK Summer Institutes are short summer study abroad programs for students with limited experience overseas and at least two years of undergraduate studies remaining.

Students who... 

  • are rising sophomores or juniors year
  • have little to no travel experience outside of North America
  • want to learn more about the UK and to share aspects of American culture

Program Information

Body

Programs generally last for three to four weeks and are offered at institutions across the United Kingdom in a variety of disciplines. Each Institute is hosted by a different university, and each focuses on a specific historical or cultural context, or a subject or topic. Depending on the Institute, students will also have opportunities to experience cultural and social events and to visit cultural sites.

Eligibility

Body

To be eligible for a Fulbright U.K. you must...

  • Be a US citizen and possess a US passport 
  • Have had no or very little study/travel experience outside of North America 
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.7 
  • Be at least 18 years old by the start of the program
  • Be able to participate in the program in its entirety 
  • Have at least two years of undergraduate study remaining after the Institute finishes 
  • Not participate in any other study abroad programs during the Summer of 2024.

  • Online application
  • Transcript (official transcripts are preferred)
  • 2 references 
    • You will enter their email address and Fulbright UK will send them a message leading them to an online portal where they can submit their letters

Timeline:

Early February: Applications are due

Mid-March: Shortlisted candidates are notified

Mid-April: Interviews

Early May: Finalists are announced
