Ben Boyer (they/them) is a CAPS intern located on the Redstone campus. They received their bachelor's in psychology and communication from Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA, and are currently a second year student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling master's program at University of Vermont.
Ben integrates feminist, narrative, and somatic theories into their clinical work. Their areas of interest include supporting students through identity development, self-esteem, interpersonal relationship concerns, trauma, and healing related to systemic oppression. As a queer, genderqueer provider, Ben works to create a supportive space for all students, understanding the importance of both personal and systemic factors in healing. They are committed to learning and advocating for disruption of racism, ableism, and other forms of oppression in and out of the counseling room.
Ben's background centers around work with college students, including counseling UVM students through practicum. They have experience with teaching mindfulness and yoga and enjoy bringing mindfulness tools into session.
When not in class or the office, Ben enjoys backpacking, creating art, listening to records, cold swim, and rock climbing.
