The Graduate Writing Center's writing camps provide two to four days of distraction-free writing to begin drafting or to complete or make further progress toward a dissertation, thesis, or other substantial writing project. Camps are generally offered three times a year and run from 10-3 pm. Camps are supported by healthy meals and the option of meeting with a graduate writing consultant. Registration is limited to those who can attend all camp days and who provide a refundable deposit. The deposit is returned at the camp's end to all campers who have attended the full number of days in that camp. In case of no-show or late cancellation, the funds are deposited to offset the cost of catered meals. Camps are typically held Howe Memorial Library.

Two-Day Writing Camps
Two-day writing camps are for UVM graduate students at work on a thesis, dissertation, or other substantial writing project. Lunch, coffee/tea, snacks and access to consultants are provided each day. Registration is open for May 22nd and 23rd, 2024 (10 am - 3 pm). The form is in the "Register for Camp" section below.
Four-Day Writing Camps
Get a jump start on your thesis or dissertation with this four-day writing camp for UVM graduate students who have approved proposals and have moved or are ready to move into drafting. Through short workshops, healthy lunches, plenty of caffeine, and loads of writing time, the Jump Start Camp will launch you into writing. (Check back for possible sessions in 2025.)
Register for a Camp
Registration opens several weeks prior to the camp. To register, complete our reservation form and send a deposit check (returned to you if you attend all days of the camp), payable to UVM, to April Christenson, 302 Howe Library, UVM, Burlington, VT 05405, or bring a cash deposit to April in the Writing in the Disciplines office, 302 Howe Memorial Library. The deposit is $25 for two-day camps and $50 for four-day camps.
