Biography
Since 1994, I've been a professor of Chinese at Middlebury College. I live in Ripton, Vermont with my wife, the painter Rebecca Purdum. When we moved to Ripton, we were lucky to meet and become friends with Warren and Barry King, who have taught us a lot, a lot, a lot about birds and the rest of the fauna and flora around us here. Rebecca and I participated in the Vermont Breeding Bird Atlas survey and surveyed Chandler Ridge for the forest birds survey for a while, and we did MBW for a few years. And now pro birder Dave Hof lives next door. How lucky can two people get?
