BIO
Nancy Gell’s research focuses on promoting healthy behaviors to prevent functional decline in individuals aging with chronic diseases and increased fall risk. Her current research agenda includes testing interventions that support physical activity and exercise participation among people aging with cancer and osteoarthritis, as well as examining factors associated with fall risk in older adults. Drawing on more than 25 years of clinical experience as a physical therapist, along with advanced education and training in public health and exercise science, her scholarship reflects a broad and interdisciplinary approach. Her overarching goal is to support healthy aging for individuals with disabilities and chronic conditions, with a particular emphasis on environmental and technological influences on physical activity, exercise adherence, and fall prevention.
