BIO

Kate Moreau is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical and Health Sciences at the University of Vermont and serves as Program Director for the Biomedical and Clinical Sciences Program. Her current professional practice is focused on leading a national public health laboratory workforce project to revise the MMWR Competency Guidelines for Public Health Laboratory Professionals. This initiative is sponsored by the Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) with funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

With more than two decades of experience spanning higher education, clinical practice, and laboratory leadership, Professor Moreau has advanced the visibility and excellence of the medical laboratory profession through teaching, scholarship, and workforce development. Her academic expertise includes hematology, clinical chemistry, emerging diagnostic technologies, and clinical education.

Professor Moreau holds a Master of Public Health from UVM’s Larner College of Medicine, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Tufts University, and certification in Medical Laboratory Science from the University of Vermont. Nationally, she serves on the Board of the Association of Medical Laboratory Education Programs (AMLEP), is a member of the APHL–CDC Workforce Steering Committee, and is past chair of the ASCLS Patient Safety and Diagnostic Stewardship Committee. In 2025, she received the ASCLS Omicron Sigma Award for outstanding service and leadership within the profession.
