BIO
I've been an insulin-dependent diabetic since 1999 and have always been curious about mechanisms of disease. I'm from Michigan originally and went to college at a tiny liberal arts university in Ohio, worked in the labs at that university and did a couple of internships elsewhere, so now I'm very glad that I get to now do science at a large university. I'm currently studying a protein involved in many unrelated forms of cancer using biochemical and structural biology techniques. Our lab recently got involved with Cryo-EM and it's very cool to be able to take pictures of single protein particles (literally!) which will then help us elucidate their mechanism of action.
