BIO

Stacie specializes in literacy teaching and learning. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she supervises student teachers and provides student advising. Her teaching interests include teacher planning and preparation as well as differentiated instruction specifically focused on meaningful student engagement that results in student access, thinking, learning, and achievement for all.

Before joining UVM, Stacie worked in public education for 21 years as a classroom teacher, reading specialist, literacy coach, and district teacher specialist working with K-12 school instructional coaches, mentors, and classroom teachers. She brings knowledge and expertise from time spent in large urban school districts in Nevada and Utah as well as smaller community school districts in Oregon.

Stacie has presented her work in literacy at the annual conference of the Utah Council of the International Reading Association. She also presented her work in teacher training, literacy and numeracy instruction, and instructional coaching at annual conferences in both Nevada and Utah. In addition, she was a contributor to the 2021 Utah Educator's Induction Guidebook published by the Utah State Board of Education.
