Shane collaborates with faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community partners to advance the Inclusive Excellence goals of the College of Education and Social Services. Specifically, he supports people and programs that promote the wellbeing of our community members who hold a wide variety of identities, backgrounds, and lived experiences.
Prior to joining the UVM community, Shane was an English and Social Sciences secondary and post-secondary teacher for 11 years. He has been licensed in secondary education in Vermont, New York, Colorado, and Oregon with English and Social Sciences endorsements.
Shane's academic background is in critical Anglophone literary studies, anti-oppression pedagogy, and decolonizing education; his career experience and professional development has expanded his interest in universal design and student activism.
