BIO

Shane is responsible for growing community partnerships that fulfill and expand the Inclusive Excellence goals of the College of Education and Social Services. Specifically, he collaborates with UVM, local, and national partners to promote the wellbeing and inclusion of faculty, staff, and students from historically underrepresented backgrounds.

Prior to joining the UVM community, Shane was an English and Social Sciences secondary and post-secondary teacher for 11 years. He has been licensed in secondary education in Vermont, New York, Colorado, and Oregon with English and Social Sciences endorsements.

Shane's academic background is in critical literary studies, anti-oppression pedagogy, and decolonizing education; his career experience and professional development has expanded his interest in universal design and student activism.
