The announcements of awards which took place during the 2008 Commencement Ceremony at the University of Vermont were a total surprise to eight students recognized by university awards on May 18, 2008. And three of those students were CDAE graduates- DaVaughn M. Vincent-Bryan, Andrew Kehl, and Ashley Michelle Fowler. Public Communication major DaVaughn Vincent-Bryan won, along with Channel Hamilton, the Class of 1967 Award which is presented to seniors who best exhibit leadership, academic competence and character, and who has earned the respect of faculty and fellow students. Community and International Development major Andrew Kehl, along with Rachel Gilbert Hopkins, won the Keith M. Miser Leadership Award for outstanding service to the university. Public Communication major Ashley Michelle Fowler, along with Joseph Thomas, won the Elmer Nicholson Achievement Prize, recognizing the greatness of their UVM experience and the expectation that they will make a major contribution in her/his field of interest.
