Guide to the Transfer Equivalency Worksheet

Credit evaluation at The University of Vermont is a two level process. The transfer credit listed on your Worksheet is acceptable to The University of Vermont. The determination of how the course(s) fit specific degree requirements, as well as of how many credits must be taken to complete a degree rests with the Academic Dean of the College in which you become a candidate for a degree.

Here is an example of different ways an Art History course might be accepted at UVM:

ART 161 equivalent to the UVM course ART 161.

ARTS 0XX similar to UVM Art courses at the 1-99 level, but does not "match" a specific course.

ARTH 1XX similar to UVM Art courses at the 100-199 level, but does not "match" a specific course.

ARTH 2XX similar to UVM Art courses at the 200-299 level, but does not "match" a specific course.

ARTH XXX similar to UVM Art courses. Normally, if the course is to be applied as an elective, no further review is necessary. If you plan to fill a specific requirement with this course, you need to bring a syllabus or other course material to Transfer Affairs.

If there is no UVM credit listed, the course has not transferred. See the three character codes in the RSN column, and look at the explanations at the end of the Worksheet. Please do not hesitate to email or call us at (802) 656-0867 if you have questions!

Grades for transfer courses are not included in your UVM GPA.

If you were enrolled in courses that do not appear on the enclosed Worksheet, please have a transcript sent directly from the Registrar's Office at the institution offering the courses to the following address:

Office of Transfer Affairs
The University of Vermont 360 Waterman Building
85 S. Prospect St
Burlington, VT 05405-0160

Please note that institutions do not automatically send a transcript each semester.

If you provided syllabi or course materials to us, and you have received your Worksheet with the updated review, please drop by our office to collect your materials.
