Trainings/Workshops/Orientations

The Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs and Internationalization provides the following trainings and workshops each year:

Chair and Academic Administrator Trainings

Round table discussions/trainings held each semester on topics of interest to Department Chairs and other faculty administrators. Topics include: relevant provisions in UVM’s faculty governance documents (including the Collective Bargaining Agreements, COM Faculty Handbook, and University Manual), departmental leadership issues, compliance requirements, guidelines for RPT and sabbatical applications, and similar topics.

New Chair and Academic Administrator Workshop

Annual workshop, held at the beginning of each academic year, for new Chairs and Associate Deans serving in this capacity for the first time. Topics include: chronology and procedures for important annual processes handled at the chair/unit level, guided discussions on academic leadership, information on legal and institutional requirements of academic supervisors, and a check-list of resources for handling issues that may arise in this role.

Academic Business Manager Faculty/HR Training Sessions

Workshops held throughout the academic year to provide current information regarding academic HR policies, procedures and guidelines.

New Faculty Orientation

Annual two-day event for held at the beginning of each academic year, providing a broad orientation to the role of faculty member at the University of Vermont, including opportunities and expectations for faculty teaching, research, and service at UVM.

RPT (Green Sheet) Workshops

The Associate Provost participates in the annual series of RPT (Green Sheet) Workshops organized via the Faculty Senate Mentoring Program, providing information and recommendations on ways to prepare effectively for RPT review.
