Directions

From I-89 North or South (two possible routes):

  1. Take exit 14W, merge onto US-2 West/Williston Road toward Burlington for 1.2 miles. Get in right-hand lane, turn right onto South Prospect Street for 0.3 miles. (Another option, instead of going to South Prospect, is to turn right at UVM's Morrill Hall onto University Place). Turn right onto Colchester Avenue. UVM's Ira Allen Chapel will be on your right, get in the left-hand lane for the left turn onto Mansfield Avenue. 23 Mansfield Avenue will be on your left, across from the fire station. The parking area and drive around the building are one-way.
  2. Take exit 14W, merge onto US-2 West/Williston Road toward Burlington for 0.6 miles. Turn right onto East Avenue, travel 0.7 miles. Turn left onto Colchester Avenue, travel 0.3 miles. Turn right onto Colchester Avenue. 23 Mansfield Avenue will be on your left, across from the fire station. The parking area and drive around the building are one-way.

From Route 7 (South): Merge onto I-189 East and travel 1.3 miles. Keep left at the fork, follow signs for I-89 North/Winooski/St. Albans and merge onto I-89 North. Once on I-89, follow directions to State Office from I-89.

Comstock Road is closed - all directions are for access via Granger Road.

From Interstate-89: Take Exit 7 off I-89. Follow VT Route 62 east for 1.8 miles. Turn right at Airport Road. Take the first right onto Granger Road. Travel to the end of Granger Road and turn left onto Comstock Road (dirt road). University of Vermont Extension building is on the left; look for sign that reads, "USDA Service Center." The building is tan with blue trim.

From Barre City (Routes 302/14): At the intersection on Main Street take a left at the light onto Route 62 (you'll see the Pierre Motel on your left). Continue on Route 62 and proceed straight at the next set of lights (the Hilltop Inn/Suzanna’s Restaurant are on the left). At the intersection at the top of the hill choose the left-hand lane to be able to turn left onto Airport Road.

Take the first right onto Granger Road. Travel to the end of Granger Road and turn left onto Comstock Road (dirt road). University of Vermont Extension building is on the left; look for sign that reads, "USDA Service Center." The building is tan with blue trim.

From Barre-Montpelier Road: Travel west on Route 302. Turn left at the light (you'll see Friendly's Restaurant on the right) and travel up the hill. Merge onto Route 62. At the intersection at the top of the hill choose the left hand lane to be able to turn left onto Airport Road. Follow directions, above, to reach office from Airport Road.

From East Montpelier: Travel west on Route 2 until reaching the rotary in front of the Walker Ford dealership just after the bridge. Enter the rotary, and drive almost all the way around, exiting on Route 302 East. Turn right at the light (there will be a Volkswagen dealership on the right) and travel up the hill. Merge onto Route 62. At the intersection at the top of the hill choose the left-hand lane to be able to turn left onto Airport Road. Follow directions, above, to reach office from Airport Road.

You will see the UVM Farm on the left; turn right at the UVM Bioresearch Facility sign. The Extension office is in the first building on the left.

From Route 7 (Shelburne Road) North: Turn right onto Swift Street (just before Denny's Restaurant and Interstate 189). At the second traffic light, turn left onto Spear Street. Travel about 1 mile and turn left at the UVM Bioresearch Facility sign. The Extension office is in the first building on the left.

From the South: Follow Route 7 North past Middlebury Inn and continue on Route 7 to Elm Street (the intersection at the stop light by Maplefield's Mobil). Turn left at light and proceed 1/4 mile to four corners. Turn right onto Exchange Street, go 1 mile (past Otter Creek Brewery and Agrimark), turn left onto Mainelli Road. Our office is immediately on the left. Enter through front door and enter door on left.

From I-89: Take Exit 15. Turn right onto Route 15 East. Follow approximately 50 minutes into the Town of Johnson. In the center of Johnson, turn left onto Route 100C. Follow this route (approximately 10 minutes) until Route 100C meets Route 100 North. Turn left onto Route 100 North. Follow this route into Newport. Once you pass the Newport City line, the Extension office is approximately .5 miles on your right. It is located at 316 Main Street in the Historic Bigelow Building on the first floor.

From I-91: Merge onto VT-91 N/Schuler Road (2.0 miles). Continue to follow VT-191 North. Turn left onto US-5 S/VT-105 West (.7 mile). Continue onto Main Street (.5 mile). Once on Main Street the Extension office is approximately .5 miles on your right. It is located at 316 Main Street in the Historic Bigelow Building on the first floor.

From the South:
Travel north on Route 7 to Rutland. Watch for the fairgrounds. At the second traffic light after the fairgrounds get into the left lane by Kentucky Fried Chicken. Take a left onto Strongs Avenue. Go past the Party Store and take the next left. There is a large parking lot out front. The Extension Office is on the second floor.

From the North: Travel south on Route 7 to Rutland. Watch for Burger King and Wendy's on the right. Keep going through several traffic lights. Route 7 will go down a hill. Near the bottom of the hill take a right onto Clover Street (if you pass the Stewarts store you have gone too far). Take a right onto Strongs Avenue. Take the first left. There is a large parking lot out front. The Extension Office is on the second floor.

Travel I-91 to Exit 7 (Springfield). Continue off exit to Rte. 11 West.

At approximately 3 miles as you approach the first major intersection (blinking three-way lights with the senior high rise building directly in front of you), approach in the left lane and make a left. This is the bottom of South Street. Travel up South Street approximately one mile, (at top of hill, use caution as visibility is limited, staying straight/left) to Springfield High School and Howard Dean Education Center, located on the right.

Follow signs for Dean Center parking in north/south, northwest and southwest areas. Follow walkways to the Howard Dean Education Center Main Entrance (noticeable by the slanted roof).

Handicapped parking is available directly next to the Dean Center main entrance.

From the Northwest:

Route 7 South through Rutland. To Route 103 South through Ludlow to Route 10 East (Gassetts). To Route 106 South to Junction of Route 11 East (near Springfield Shopping Plaza).

Continue straight on Route 11 East through intersection in the center of Springfield, to the next intersection where you want to stay straight to the Stop sign (Route 11 East bears left through that intersection and continues East toward New Hampshire). This is the bottom of South Street. Travel up South Street approximately one mile, (at top of hill, use caution as visibility is limited, staying straight/left) to Springfield High School and Howard Dean Education Center, located on the right.

From the East: From Main Street (U.S. Route 2 West) in St. Johnsbury proceed 2.2 miles toward Danville. Turn right onto North Danville Road. Take immediate right onto Emerson Falls Road.
