ASL Instructions for Microsoft Teams

  • ASL consumers should right-click the frame displaying the interpreter(s) and select “Pin” in order to keep the interpreter(s) viewable throughout the session.
  • Due to the current limitations of Microsoft Teams, if someone is presenting/sharing their screen, ASL consumers may find it difficult to simultaneously view the ASL Interpreter frame and the shared screen. A solution is to open a second incidence of Microsoft Teams through the web (Select Work/School account, login with UVM credentials, and opt to use the web app) This allows the user to have the same session opened in two separate windows, in which one screen can display the ASL Interpreter and the other can display the shared screen.

ASL Instructions for Zoom

  • ASL consumers should right-click the frame displaying the interpreter and select “Pin” in order to keep the interpreter viewable throughout the session. Zoom allows viewers to continue viewing pinned frames even when someone is presenting/screensharing.
  • Users should use the gallery view to identify and pin an interpreter at the beginning of a meeting. Zoom does not allow users to pin more than one interpreter, so in the event that there are two interpreters, users should switch who is pinned by returning to the gallery view.
