The 4th International Conference Is Postponed to
July 2nd-4th, 2004

After the three international conferences on Chinese language pedagogy held in China (2000 in Wuhan, 2001 in Yichang, and 2002 in Nanjing), Yunnan Normal University and the University of Vermont with a group of Chinese language teaching professionals from other institutions are jointly initiating the Fourth International Conference on Chinese Language Pedagogy to be held in Kunming on July 12-14, 2003, which has been postponed to July 2-4 due to the outbreak of SARS in some areas of China in the spring of 2003.

The Conference is intended to promote academic communication and cooperation among teachers and scholars of Chinese as a second/foreign language in and outside China and to help Conference attendees to enrich their Chinese cultural knowledge and experience.

To help the Conference attendees to see the beautiful landscape and to experience the customs of various Chinese minority nationalities, the Conference organizers will arrange the following tours after the Conference.

Tour 1: Kunming -->Stone Forest --> Jiuxiang -->Kunming
Date: July 5, 2004 (one day)

Tour 2A: Kunming-->Dali-->Lijiang-->Chuxiong-->Kunming
Dates: July 6-10, 2004 (five days)

Tour 2B: Kunming-->Dali-->Lijiang-->Xishuangbanna-->Kunming
Dates: July 6-11, 2004  (six days)

Tour 2C: Kunming-->Dali -->Lijiang-->Zhongdian (Shangrila)-->Kunming
Dates: July 6-12, 2004 (seven days)
