I am interested in studying phenotypic plasticity in the butterfly Pieris rapae. P. rapae, or the cabbage butterfly, is a widespread and abundant species native to Europe, and has populations in North America, Northern Africa, Asia, and Australia. I am interested to see how populations in those very different environments adapt to climate change. Through my research, I hope to understand the mechanisms that drive plasticity at the genetic level, and to observe patterns of variation in both natural and lab reared populations.
