The University of Vermont campus and the Burlington area will be an even more active scene than usual September 29 through October 1 as UVM Weekend 2023 kicks off on Friday.

Formerly known as Alumni Weekend and Parents & Family Weekend, the event is now structured to welcome all members of the UVM community – alumni, students, parents, families, faculty, and staff – for three days of sporting events, open houses, the 25th-year class reunion celebration, and other signature events.

Some key moments from the more than 50 events planned are: 50th anniversary celebrations for both the Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources and the College of Education and Social Services; the Black Student Union’s Soul Food Social; a School of World Languages and Cultures Alumni panel, where alumni will share stories of their career paths and how their language and culture majors prepared them for success; the Nursing White Coat Ceremony that celebrates the commitment by students to healing and caring; tours of the Marcelle Melosira, the university’s new lake research vessel at the Burlington waterfront, and many more.

The 2023 UVM Weekend will also feature both a UVM Student Market sponsored by the Entrepreneur Club and the inaugural Alumni Market, the latter of which will showcase more than two dozen businesses run by UVM graduates, including Bivo, a sports water bottle company run by Carina Hamel ’07; Hive Extracts, a natural cosmetics and bath products company run by Geoffrey Glampa ’16; and local creemee, candy, and syrup maker Palmer Lane Maple, owned by Colleen Palmer ’99.
