Following a national search, Mandar Dewoolkar has been appointed to lead the UVM’s College of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences (CEMS) as dean, effective April 1. An accomplished teacher and scholar, Dewoolkar most recently served as the interim dean for CEMS. He is a professor of civil and environmental engineering and a faculty fellow of the Gund Institute for Environment. He has also served as UVM’s Sustainability fellow and Service-Learning Fellow. Dewoolkar has received many awards, including the university’s Kroepsch-Maurice Excellence in Teaching Award and Vermont Campus Compact’s Engaged Scholar Award, and he is a fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers. 

Vikas Anand has been appointed dean of the Grossman School of Business, bringing extensive experience in business school administration, strategic program development, accreditation, and global engagement to UVM’s nationally ranked business school. Anand currently serves as associate dean for academic programs at the Poole College of Management at North Carolina State University, where he oversees a broad portfolio including undergraduate and graduate programs, executive education, global initiatives, career services, and marketing. Under his leadership, Poole has seen significant enrollment growth, curricular innovation, and enhanced student outcomes.

Dain LaRoche has been appointed to lead UVM’s College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Currently the associate dean for research in the University of New Hampshire, Durham, College of Health and Human Services, LaRoche oversees the college’s $30 million annual research portfolio and has co-developed the college’s first interdisciplinary Ph.D. program. LaRoche earned his Ph.D. in exercise and sport science at the University of Utah. The focus of his research is the interplay of neuromuscular, metabolic, and biomechanical function in the limitation of mobility of older adults. Both Anand and LaRoche begin their deanships on July 1.
