An exclusive UVM club is in the midst of a major expansion as three new members joined this season and two more are expected to join soon. Most recently, junior May Kotsopoulos became the newest member on Jan. 27 when she scored 12 points against Hartford to become the 18th women's basketball player to score 1,000 points. Junior Marqus Blakely became the 28th member of the men's 1,000-point club on Jan. 17 against Stony Brook.

Senior captain Amy Rosenkrantz needs just 43 points and two rebounds to become the 12th woman to score 1,000 points and grab 500 rebounds. Kotsopoulos, the reigning America East Defensive Player of the Year, is the second Catamount to reach 1,000 career points this year. Junior Courtnay Pilypaitis, who achieved the milestone in the season opener against UMass, is third all-time at UVM in assists and is on pace to join the ultra-rare 2,000-point club, which consists of two members: Karalyn Church '00 (2,317 points) and Sheri Turnbull '94 (2,108).

On the men's side, Blakely and Mike Trimboli, who is two assists shy of breaking Kenny White's 1992 all-time career assists mark of 565, have chances of joining Eddie Benton '96 (2,474), Taylor Coppenrath '05 (2,442) and T.J. Sorrentine '05 (2,013) as the only members of the men's 2,000-point club.

When Rosenkrantz and senior Colin McIntosh, who is on pace to break 1,000 points by the end of the season, reach the milestone it will mark the first time in school history that both the men's and women's teams have three 1,000-point scorers on their rosters.
