The State of Vermont, in collaboration with the University of Vermont and the Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC), is offering a $5000 loan repayment program to incentivize and retain new graduates from Vermont colleges and universities.

The Green Mountain Job and Retention program is open to students who are graduating in the Spring of 2023, who are living in Vermont and accept a full-time position, that requires a bachelor’s degree, with a company in Vermont. Accepted applicants are eligible for up to $5,000 in loan repayment: $2,500 after their first year of employment and an additional $2,500 after the second year.

“This program represents a tangible way that we can say to our young people, ‘we want you here in Vermont and we value your Vermont education’,” said UVM President Suresh Garimella. “By starting their careers in Vermont, graduates can reduce their overall debt while getting valuable work experience. And of course, this program provides Vermont employers a competitive advantage for attracting talented and much-needed new members of the statewide workforce.”

Interested students can apply at www.uvm.edu/engagement/greenmountainjobs. Applications will be accepted on a first come, first served basis starting now through Fall 2023 or until all funds have been committed.
