University of Vermont music professor David Neiweem -- just named Artist of the Year by the Vermont Chapter of the American Guild of Organists -- will perform an unusual “progressive” recital on June 12 on three of the university’s three prize organs.

The event is free and open to the public.

Neiweem will begin at 2 p.m. with the Rodgers “Trillium 3” electronic organ in the Ira Allen Chapel, an innovative digital instrument that was installed in the chapel in 2005.

After a break at 2:40, the next portion of the recital will begin at 3 p.m. in the Music Building Recital Hall, where Neiweem will play short programs on two different instruments, including the famous C.B. Fisk French Classic pipe organ and the Henk Klop portative pipe organ.

Included on the program will be a wide variety of works for organ, including orchestral transcriptions and works from the baroque to modern periods. For information, please call (802) 656-7769.

Neiweem is the Marian B. Coe University Organist and Carillonneur at UVM.
