The United States State Department and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) have issued adviso- ries regarding travel to China due to the outbreak of Coronavirus. Recently, the National Science Foundation has restricted travel for its people and several airlines have also cancelled flights to China. Restrictions on travel to China have been imposed in other countries as well.

Given current government and CDC travel advisories, UVM faculty and staff traveling to China for research or other academic or business purposes, irrespective of the source of financial support for the travel, should delay their plans until further notice.

We take this action out of genuine concern for the safety of our faculty and staff. We will continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates as the situation evolves. If there is an especially urgent need for travel to China, please bring it to my attention for consideration.
