The Office of University Relations works closely with national organizations and leaders in higher education, the federal administration, the Congress, and particularly Vermont's own Congressional delegation to support higher education in general and promote the value of the University of Vermont to the citizens of the state and society at large.
In addition, the office:
- Seeks opportunities at the national level to advance the goals and the priorities of the University through Congressional or executive action
- Monitors federal legislation and regulations and advocates for federal appropriations to support University programs, research and operations
- In partnership with the Office of the Vice President for Research, facilitates a comprehensive, University-wide process to identify, prioritize, and communicate key initiatives for federal legislation and funding
- Links University students, faculty, and administrators to members of Congress, the executive branch, and national organizations on matters of mutual interest
